Stamping
At HPL, 83 punch presses ranging from 18 tons to 215 tons and CNC equipment are used in conjunction with special universal units, holders and fixtures to manufacture custom metal stampings. Parts of any shape can be blanked, pierced, formed, stenciled, drawn and extruded using HPL's special stamping methods.
Each basic precision stamping operation performed at HPL is usually done with one hit. That means the part's entire periphery is cut with one stroke (blanking). All holes and openings are then performed in another operation with punches located at the point of contact. And so on with forming and additional operations needed. Exact duplication is guaranteed from the first piece to the last.
Since the short run method has a shorter lead time, it is ideal for faster delivery of projects that have been started too late, are taking too long or don’t require a high volume minimum. Short run stamping is the way to go when it is not possible to invest a large amount of money in costly progressive tooling.
Others have tried to duplicate our custom metal stamping process and advertise as "short run stampings". These are sometimes described as "soft tooling", steel rule dies, semi-hard tooling and even sheet metal fabrications. Each of these processes do indeed represent "limited quantity" sheet metal parts, however, each also represents a different level of quality, close tolerance ability and "finished" look.
HPL pioneered the modern short run stamping process over 65 years ago and now, through our "specialization and standardization" process, we consistently deliver quality metal stampings throughout the United States and around the world.
We know precision stampings.
Applications
HPL's short run metal stamping procedures allow a cost effective solution for production of low quantity pieces (25 to 25,000 pieces).
HPL's offerings benefit markets seeking:
competitive production and repeat runs up to 25,000
prototype runs
test runs (500 pieces or smaller)
small and medium application runs
quoted runs as high as 100,000 pieces
